The Community Thrift Store first opened on May 2, 2007.  It sells a wide variety of gently used items including furniture, clothing, games and toys, household decor, and holiday decorations.  Grandma's Attic first opened on September 23, 2013. It specializes in antique and vintage items, greeting cards, and Christmas items sold year round.

The proceeds from the Community Thrift Store and Grandma's Attic are used to support a wide range of community programs:
  • In 2009 a van was purchased to transport people to and from Cheyenne for dialysis treatments.  At that time, the van traveled to Cheyenne three to six times a week. leaving around 8 AM and arriving back in Wheatland around 5 PM. Currently there are no community members receiving dialysis, however, the van is still available to any community members needing to travel out of town for medical appointments.  The drivers are volunteers and no reimbursement is requested for the use of the van.
  • The Community Thrift Store is currently in the process of purchasing a wide-lift van that can be used by any Platte County resident in need of transportation that is wheelchair-accessible.
  • The Community Thrift Store supports people who need to travel out of town for medical appointments and/or who have long-term medical needs.  We reimburse for mileage and pay for meals and hotels if necessary.
  • Seniors Serving Seniors is a program providing companionship to homebound elderly in our community.
  • A meals-on-wheels program provides a fast-food meal once a month to the homebound.
  • The Community Thrift Store has helped community members with medical bills, medical supplies and equipment, and home renovation and maintenance to accommodate the handicapped and elderly,
  • The Community Thrift Store supports all Platte County Schools, 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, churches, the Department of Family Services, Wheatland Early Childhood, nursing homes and senior centers.
